Water TreatmentThe City of Nederland has a water treatment plant located at the intersection of 17th Street and Canal Avenue. The water treatment plant was upgraded in 1996 at a cost of $4.8 million; beginning in 2011, an additional repair/improvement project commenced, focusing on the pumps of the plant that were 30 to 40 years old and upgrading the SCADA system. The improvements were completed in 2013. The Plants treatment capacity increased from 6 million gallons per day to 7.49 million gallons per day. Infrastructure/Capacity: total treatment 7.49 MGD, 4 raw water pumps and motors, 5 distribution pumps and motors. Three elevated water towers storing a total of 1.5 million gallons, 2 ground storage tanks storing a total of 2.45 million gallons. Total water storage is 3.95 million gallons.
