The Finance Department’s primary responsibility is to demonstrate fiscal accountability to the citizens of Nederland. The department provides financial management and accounting services support to all City departments while overseeing the City’s Annual Budget.
The Finance Department is responsible for utility administration, cash management including investment of funds, revenue collection, debt management, payroll and preparation of the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
The Finance Department also maintains an accounting system for the Nederland Economic Development Corporation, a component unit of the City of Nederland.
The Finance Department has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association for the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the last 23 years.
