TRAILER PARK BOARD OF APPEALS MINUTES

5:15 p.m. October 16, 2007
  1. MEETING

    The meeting was held October 16, 2007, at the City of Nederland D. Bob Henson Office Building, 1903 Atlanta, Nederland, Texas and was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by Chairman Guy Barlow.

    MEMBERS PRESENT: Guy Barlow, Bill Cummins, and Mickey Fenn
    MEMBERS ABSENT: Kenneth Whigham
    CITY STAFF PRESENT: Rod Hatch, Chief Building Official and Beth Merren, Inspections Department Secretary
    OTHERS PRESENT: Clifford Taylor, and Pastor and Mrs. C. Dean Jacobs

  2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

    A motion was made by Bill Cummins and seconded by Mickey Fenn to approve the minutes of the July 10, 2007 meeting. All voted aye.

  3. VARIANCES

    Pastor C. Dean Jacobs, Grace Baptist Church, located at 728 Boston Avenue, described as Lots 2, and 3, Block 6, Haizlip Addition, requested a medical hardship variance for he and his wife to live in a trailer on church property. The request was made after a prior variance for repairs to the church and the pastor's apartment expired. Pastor Jacobs stated, that due to lack of funds, repairs have not begun. The Chief Building Official presented pictures of the current condition of the church and informed the board that the structural deterioration of the building may necessitate the enforcement of Ordinance No. 2001-07 concerning dangerous and unsafe buildings. This information prompted Pastor Jacobs to stop the discussion and he and his wife left the meeting. The board took no action.

    Clifford Taylor, owner of the property located at 707 S. 9th Street, described as Lot 9, Block 5, Midway Addition, requested a four month extension to live in a travel trailer while he completes repairs to his home. After a full discussion a motion was made by Mickey Fenn and seconded by Bill Cummins to grant a four month extension. All voted aye.

    T.J. and Lynne Parker, owners of the property located at 802 Avenue E, described as Lot 36, Block 1, Midway Addition, requested an extension until November 30, 2007, to live in their travel trailer while they complete new construction of their home. After a full discussion a motion was made by Mickey Fenn and seconded by Bill Cummins to grant an extension until December 31, 2007. All voted aye.

  4. COMMUNICATIONS

    None

  5. ADJOURN

    There being no other business a motion was made by Bill Cummins and seconded by Mickey Fenn to adjourn the meeting at 5:35 p.m. All voted aye.
