NEDERLAND CITY COUNCIL AGENDA

NOTICE is hereby given of a regular meeting of the Nederland City Council to be held Monday, October 22, 2007, 6:00 p.m., at the Nederland City Office Building, 1400 Boston Avenue, Nederland, Texas, for the purpose of considering the following agenda items. The City Council reserves the right to retire into Executive Session concerning any of the agenda items whenever it is considered necessary and legally justified pursuant to Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.

  1. CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER
     
  2. APPROVE THE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
     
  3. REQUEST
     
    1. Consider action regarding a request from Michael Rooney to rescind the previous decision of the City Council to order demolition of the structure at 2703 Avenue G.

    2. Consider action regarding a request from Matthew and Dina Shipman regarding waiver of a utility bill for 2017 Avenue F.

  4. STREET CLOSURE

    Consider action authorizing the closure of Franklin Avenue, between 12th and 13th Streets, on October 25, 2007 from 3:00-9:00 p.m. for Langham Elementary School's Annual Fall Carnival.

  5. PUBLIC HEARING

    Conduct a Public Hearing to discuss and receive comments regarding HB 621 and Section 11.253 of the Property Tax Code.

  6. ORDINANCES

    Consider action approving Ordinance No. 2007-13, taxation of goods in transit.


  7. UTILITY RATE CASE

    Consider action approving Ordinance No. 2007-14, Texas Gas Service rate request settlement.

  8. RESOLUTIONS
     
    1. Consider action approving Resolution No. 2007-19, ratifying the action of the Nederland Economic Development Corporation related to the incentive offered to The Candle Cottage.

    2. Consider action approving Resolution 2007-20, suspending Entergy rate increase request.

  9. ELECTION
     
    1. Consider action appointing two (2) members of the City Council to canvass the election results from the November 6, 2007 election.

    2. Consider action setting a date for a Special Meeting to canvass the election results from the November 6, 2007 election.

  10. BIDS/PROPOSALS
     
    1. Consider action awarding a proposal for demolition of structures previously approved for removal by the City Council.

    2. Consider action awarding a bid for banking services.

    3. Consider action awarding a bid for water and sewer inventory items.

  11. STREET LIGHT REQUEST

    Consider action authorizing the installation of a street light at the corner of 34th Street and Omaha Avenue.

  12. APPOINTMENT

    Consider approving an appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals to fill an unexpired term.

  13. WAGE AND CLASSIFICATION PLAN
     
    1. Consider action eliminating the existing Recreation/Aquatic Supervisor position.

    2. Consider action creating a Parks and Recreation Supervisor position, pay grade 112.

    3. Consider action eliminating the Parks Maintenance Supervisor position.

    4. Consider action creating a Maintenance Worker position to be assigned to the Parks and Recreation Department, pay grade 105.

    5. Consider action reclassifying the pay grade of the Recreation/Aquatics Assistant position, pay grade 105.

    6. Consider action reclassifying the pay grade of the Library Assistant position, pay grade 103.

  14. PAYMENTS

    Consider action approving a payment to Allco, Ltd. in the amount of $17,70477, 2007 Sewer Rehabilitation Project Payment Request No. 5.

  15. EXECUTIVE SESSION (No Public Discussion on These Items)

    The City Council will announce that it will go into Executive Session, pursuant to Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, to discuss matters as specifically listed on the agenda, or as authorized by law.
