TRAILER PARK BOARD OF APPEALS MINUTES

5:00 p.m. July 10, 2007
  1. MEETING

    The meeting was held July 10, 2007, at the City of Nederland D. Bob Henson Office Building, 1903 Atlanta, Nederland, Texas and was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Guy Barlow.

    MEMBERS PRESENT: Guy Barlow, Barney Green, Bill Cummins, and Mickey Fenn
    MEMBERS ABSENT: Kenneth Whigham
    CITY STAFF PRESENT: Rod Hatch, Chief Building Official and Beth Merren, Inspections Department Secretary
    OTHERS PRESENT: Clifford Taylor, Michael Smith, T.J. and Lynne Parker, and Pastor and Mrs. C. Dean Jacobs
  2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

    A motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to approve the minutes of the April 24, 2007 meeting. Guy Barlow, Barney Green, and Mickey Fenn voted aye. Bill Cummins was not present.

  3. VARIANCES

    Clifford Taylor, owner of the property located at 707 S. 9th Street, described as Lot 9, Block 5, Midway Addition, requested a five month extension to live in a travel trailer while he repairs damages to his home caused by Hurricane Rita. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to grant a ninety (90) day variance. Guy Barlow, Barney Green, and Mickey Fenn voted aye. Bill Cummins was not present.

    Terry and Melissa Marchand, owners of the property located at 143 Hilldale Drive, described as Lot 12, Block 2, Hillcrest Terrace Addition, requested a sixty (60) day extension to live in their travel trailer while they repair damages to their home caused by Hurricane Rita. After a full discussion a motion was made by Mickey Fenn and seconded by Barney Green to grant a ninety (90) day variance. Guy Barlow, Barney Green, and Mickey Fenn voted aye. Bill Cummins was not present.

    Michael Smith, owner of the property located at 124 S. 16th Street, described as Lot 6, M. Sierks Addition, presented verification from the South East Texas Planning Commission, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Program for Hurricane Rita Disaster Recovery Funds. He stated his request was for an unknown time period due to the funding process. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to grant a one year variance. Guy Barlow, Barney Green and Mickey Fenn voted aye. Bill Cummins was not present.

    T.J. and Lynne Parker, owners of the property located at 802 Avenue E, described as Lot 36, Block 1, Midway Addition, requested a thirty (30) day extension to live in their travel trailer while they complete new construction of their home. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Bill Cummins to grant a ninety (90) day extension. All voted aye.

    Mr. Joseph McMains, owner of the property located at 2216 Avenue B, described as Lot 15, Block 6, Hillcrest 1st Addition, requested a variance until June 30, 2007, to live in his travel trailer while he repaired damages to his home caused by Hurricane Rita. Upon expiration of this extension, Mr. McMains did not request additional time to complete repairs to his home and is in violation of the Trailer Ordiance for the City of Nederland. After a full discussion no action was taken.

    Pastor C. Dean Jacobs, Grace Baptist Church, located at 728 Boston Avenue, described as Lots 2, and 3, Block 6, Haizlip Addition, requested a ninety (90) day variance for he and his wife to live in a travel trailer while he repairs damages to the church caused by Hurricane Rita. After a full discussion a motion was made by Bill Cummins and seconded by Barney Green to grant a ninety (90) day extension. All voted aye.

  4. COMMUNICATIONS

    None.

  5. ADJOURN

    There being no other business a motion was made by Guy Barlow and seconded by Barney Green to adjourn the meeting at 5:29 p.m. All voted aye.
