PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
October 31, 2006
The meeting was held October 31, 2006 at the City of Nederland D. Bob Henson Office Building, 1903 Atlanta Avenue, Nederland, Texas and was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman C.J. Schexnaider.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Robert Sawyer and seconded by Homer Nagel to approve the minutes of the October 3, 2006 meeting. All voted aye.
- PUBLIC HEARING
The regular meeting was recessed and a Public Hearing was called at 5:01 p.m. by Chairman C.J. Schexnaider, for the purpose of receiving questions and/or comments regarding the rezoning of the property described as Lots 1-10, Block 2, of the J.D. Ford Addition, from Light Industrial to Single Family Residential.
Nikki Brackin and William B. Dorr, 8214 Ford Street, owners of Lot 1, Tract 2, and Lot 2, Block 2, J.D. Ford Addition, provided comments in favor of rezoning the property from Light Industrial to Single Family Residential.
The following property owners provided comments opposing rezoning the property from Light Industrial to Single Family Residential:
Terry Richard, 8074 Ford Street, owner of Lot 10, Block 2, J.D. Ford Addition.
Francis McCoy, owner of Lots 3-6, Block 2, J.D. Ford Addition, and daughter.
Sharon Elledge, 8090 Ford Street, owner of Lot 9, Block 2, J.D. Ford Addition and fiancée.
There being no further questions and/or comments the Public Hearing was adjourned and the regular meeting was reconvened at 5:35 p.m. by Chairman C.J. Schexnaider.
After a full discussion a motion was made by Homer Nagel and seconded by Robert Sawyer to recommend to the City Council to leave the zoning of the described property as Light Industrial. All voted aye.
George Newsome, Soutex Surveyors Inc., presented the preliminary plat of the Lakes of Nederland Subdivision. After a full discussion a motion was made by Robert Sawyer and seconded by Homer Nagel to approve the preliminary plat. All voted aye.
There being no other business a motion was made by Homer Nagel and seconded by Robert Sawyer to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m. All voted aye.
