CITY OF NEDERLAND
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MINUTES

The meeting was held August 22, 2006 at the City of Nederland D. Bob Henson Office Building, 1903 Atlanta Avenue, Nederland, Texas and was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Vice Chairman Bill Cummins.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Bill Cummins, Barney Green, and Mickey Fenn
MEMBERS ABSENT: Guy Barlow and Kenneth Whigham
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Rod Hatch, Chief Building Official and Beth Merren, Inspections Department Secretary
OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wiltz, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Lester Champagne, Mr. Charles English and Mr. Michael Cloud
  1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

    A motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to approve the minutes of the August 8, 2006 meeting. All voted aye.

  2. VARIANCES

    Harry Wiltz Sr., owner of the property located at 720 Pirates' Cove, described as Lot 1, Pirates' Cove Addition, requested a 10' variance to the 25' front setback requirement to build a new home. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to approve the variance. All voted aye.

    Lester Champagne, owner of the property located at 1715 N. 34th Street, described as Lot 8, Block 2, Ridge Crest Addition requested a 2' variance to the 14' ceiling height requirement for an accessory building. After a full discussion a motion was made by Mickey Fenn and seconded by Barney Green to approve a 4' variance to the 12' maximum ceiling height requirement of an accessory building. All voted aye.

    Charles English, owner of the property located at 2111 Helena, described as Lot 3, Block 3, Nederland Terrace Addition, requested a 5' variance to the side building setback requirement to rebuild his carport. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to approve the variance. All voted aye.

    Michael Cloud, owner of the property located at 1024 S. 15th Street, described as Lot 2, Block 2, Wagner 4 Proposed Addition, requested a 5' variance to the side building setback requirement to rebuild his carport. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to approve the variance. All voted aye.

  4. ADJOURN

    There being no other business a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Mickey Fenn to adjourn the meeting at 5:32 p.m. All voted aye.
