CITY OF NEDERLAND
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MINUTES

The meeting was held May 10, 2005 at the City of Nederland D. Bob Henson Office Building, 1903 Atlanta, Nederland, Texas and was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Guy Barlow.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Guy Barlow, Barney Green, and Kenneth Whigham
MEMBERS ABSENT: Bill Cummins and Mickey Fenn
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Rod Hatch, Building Official and Beth Merren, Inspections Department Secretary
OTHERS PRESENT: Paul Placette, Stephen Savant, and Kenneth Sanders

A motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Kenneth Whigham to approve the minutes of the March 22, 2005 meeting. MOTION CARRIED. MINUTES APPROVED

VARIANCE
 

  1. Mr. Paul Placette, owner of the property located at 1204 N. 23rd Street, described as Lot 11, Block 2, E-Lane Addition requested approval of a variance on an 8' encroachment into the South easement and an 8' encroachment into the East easement to build a metal building in his rear yard. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Kenneth Whigham to approve the variance. All voted aye.
  2. Mr. Kenneth Sanders, owner of property located at 102 N. 5th Street, described as Pt. of Lot 1, Block 12, Johnson Addition and Pt. of Lot 4, Block 16 Range G, PALCO, and Mr. Stephen Savant requested a variance to the nonconforming use section of the Nederland Zoning Ordinance to allow an enclosed structure to be placed on the property for storage of a wrecked vehicle in order to meet the Police Department's requirements of their Non-consent Towing Regulations. After a full discussion a motion was made by Barney Green and seconded by Kenneth Whigham to approve the variance. All voted aye.

There being no other business a motion was made by Kenneth Whigham and seconded by Barney Green to adjourn the meeting at 5:27 p.m. MOTION CARRIED.
