Substance Abuse Policy
Any applicant tentatively selected for employment will be required to submit to
testing to screen for illegal drug use prior to employment. Employment is contingent
upon a negative drug test result. If a position requires a commercial drivers
license, the applicant must comply with the Omnibus Transportation Employee
Testing Act of 1991.
Selection Guidelines
Depending on the position to be filled, the selection process may include one or
more of the following: written examination, job related skills examination, oral
interview, substance screening, alcohol screening, physical assessment test, medical
evaluation, psychological evaluation, drivers record inquiry, criminal history
inquiry, and background inquiry.
Application Policy
The City of Nederland is an at-will employer. The City has a competitive selection
process focused on providing an effective and productive workforce to serve the citizens
of Nederland. Applications are accepted only for positions that are currently posted.
A separate application is required for each posting. Applications must be received by the
Personnel Office by the deadline indicated on the job posting. Applications that meet
all minimum qualifications for education and experience as identified on the job posting
and include proper documentation will advance to the next phase of the selection process.
