The City Clerk serves as the Local Registrar and is responsible for filing of all births, deaths, and fetal deaths that occur within the city limits of Nederland. Vital records are confidential by State law and are only issued to qualified applicants - self, mother, father, sibling, grandparent, guardian or legal representative.

Certified copies of vital records are an exact replica as filed with the Texas Department of Health and in the Office of the City Clerk. The City of Nederland began certifying all vital records in 1962. For Nederland birth and death records prior to 1962 please contact the Texas Department of Health or the Jefferson County Clerk's office.

Fees for certified copies of vital records are as follows:

• Birth record - $22.00 per certified copy
• Death record - $20.00 for first copy; $3.00 for each additional certificate issued at the same time.
